i once read this article by one CEO of a company out there on the topic how will they relate this 2 issues- employee haveing need to work OT and their efficiency.

i figured most employers (espcially Singaporean boss) think that if his staff work a lot of OT (irregardless whether is paid OT or otherwise), that means that the staff is actually very hardworking and dilligent and committed to his work.

but i beg to be differ. it could show that your staff is 'committed' in one way, but in another, it means there is something very wrong with his efficiency that he needs to work OT.

of coz if the office/lab is short-handed, different issue will be addressed.

but sadly, most of the employer still regards their work-most-OT staff as the most diligent staff, and therefore, better performance appraisal and higher salary increment, etc etc.

hmph.
